"Lust is any intense desire or craving for self gratification. Lust can mean strictly sexual lust, although it is also common to speak of a “lust for life”, “lust for blood (bloodlust for short)”, or a “lust for power” or other goals. The Greek word which translates as lust is epithymia ( επιθυμια ), which also is translated into English as “to covet”.
The word is derived from the Old English term for desire, and ultimately from a Germanic which also originated High German lust 'wish, desire'. In German, the word Lust denotes simply "desire".
A frequent visual symbol for the sin of lust is the color blue; for instance, that is the color of the cover of the book Lust in The Seven Deadly Sins series published by the Oxford University Press."

In celebration of deviantArt’s 7th birthday I have chosen to participate in “Blue is the color of Lust
” contest [link]
I decided to get creative with the theme of “lust”. After all, what is the point of entering a competition if you don’t put some effort, thought, and creativity into your entry?
To me “lust” symbolizes and means many things. In the most basic sense, it doesn’t necessarily only have to do with love and passion in the form of sex. Indeed, this definition is probably the first that comes to most people’s minds. Indeed it is a prominent and significant one. However I thought I would represent my current passion, love, and hobby: taking liquid macro photography
I definitely find a great deal of passion, love, and drive to keep on taking more and more liquid macro shots. For me, it is an amazing ability and opportunity to view the world from a different perspective. Once I started taking these shots, I really could not stop!
Apart from the love, desire, companionship, and fulfillment of loving and being loved, the next best desire and thing I “lust” is taking liquid macro photography (hey, my name isn’t ~Silver-Dew-Drop
for nothing you know! And not to mention my real name translated means “dew drops” the life giving mist that covers the world every morning
) So what better way to represent lust for me than to take a liquid macro shot (on a peacock feather), and of course, incorporate the colour blue into it… and voila, my entry for this competition. I couldn’t think of a better submission that represents both me and my passion In this specific photograph, I love the reflection in the droplet. What made me choose this specific photo is because --forgive my wild imagination-- it looks like there is a struggle going on within the drop almost like the "soul" of the drop... the blue representing lust is engulfing and overpowering the forces of "darkness" (the black part) and replacing it with good and lust and the desire to live on and shine... and thus from bottom up the drop seems to be regaining its luster and is shining from within
Thanks to everyone in advance for viewing/commenting/faving. It means a lot to me. Any and all comments are welcomed and appreciated
Full-view is best!
